Noam Chomsky’s views are always interesting.  In this interview he coins the phrase, “socialism for the rich and capitalism for the poor”.  He bases his argument on the fact that when there is an economic crisis that affects the rich, such as the financial crash, the state intervenes to bail them out. On the other hand, the poor are left to fend for themselves and suffer the vagaries of the free market. It is a compelling phrase I think.  The illusion of the American dream is something which he and artists with a social conscience, such as Bruce Springsteen, have been documenting for a long time.
