Salisbury Compass is dedicated to countering misleading and inaccurate information, building a progressive alliance, energising local democracy and helping to improve public discourse with monthly meetings of Salisbury Democracy Café.
We suggest five areas of reform needed to fix our democracy:
• The need for a fairer election process
• A fairer taxation system
• An end to the ‘revolving door’
• A substantial increase in transparency and accuracy
• A proper system of party funding
We meet at the Yard café at the end of Fisherton St down Dews Road. Our next meeting will be on Saturday 18 August starting at 11am lasting two hours. The venue is free but we ask attendees to buy a refreshment from the café please.
The next Democracy Café will be on Saturday 8 September in the Hawking room (upstairs) in the Playhouse starting at 10am and finishing at noon. It is free but contributions to our costs are always welcome.
We look forward to seeing you at either or both events.
